SMSS Position: Health Science Students’ Association Representative
Appointed or Elected: Elected (2 years)
Main responsibilities/description: (filled out by Melody Wong, 2nd year).
The Health Science Students’ Association runs many events throughout the year, with the major events being I-PASS, Medicomania, Malpractice Mixer and BBIF. On top of that, we run monthly “Discussion Series” events, run the local Health Care Team Challege, as well as multiple projects that vary from year to year. HSSA also has an opportunity to affect interprofessional education.
The Junior Representative will sit in on the weekly council meetings and help out when required. Along with the other juniors, they are expected to plan BBIF in the second semester to transition to their position next year.
The Senior Representative is expected to run for an executive position within the HSSA. The responsibilities are largely determined by the position taken. Regardless of executive role, the Senior Representative is expected to be a leader within the HSSA, mentor the Junior Representative, and take a large role in planning specifically I-PASS and Medicomania.
